CITRUSDAL, SOUTH AFRICA – Summer Citrus from South Africa is getting into the swing of summer; in only its second year as a consumer-facing brand, the company is launching a new 2017 Swing Into Summer consumer promotion—and looking to bring awareness to South African fruit and encourage trial during the brand’s limited availability in the summer months.
“Last year, we learned that people wanted to better understand the unique qualities and offerings of South African citrus before purchasing it, so we’ve created a promotion to accommodate those demands.” said Suhanra Conradie, CEO. “We expect that consumers will spend the time to get to know us before product is available in the U.S. in order to make a purchasing decision easier when Summer Citrus from South Africa is available in their local grocery store.”
According to a company press release, the brand learned through its first foray into consumer promotion in 2016 that the public is looking for usage tips and inspiration and a better understanding of the South African fruit. The company noted that consumers were interested in unique flavor profiles, availability, growing practices, and recipes for each variety that work perfect in the summertime.
The company’s Swing Into Summer promotion’s first phase will run from May through June and will offer one grand prize winner a $250 Ray-Ban gift card. Ten other winners will receive a summer prize pack, including:

In July, Summer Citrus from South Africa will enter the second phase of its promotion, partnering with five food bloggers to create unique summer recipes and host their own giveaways to encourage purchase of Summer Citrus from South Africa during peak season. A grand prize winner from each blog will win a summer prize pack, including an insulated picnic bag, fruit water infuser, popsicle cookbook, and popsicle molds.
