United Supermarkets New Years’ Resolution is to focus on consumer health. United Supermarkets will now be making the NuVal Nutritional Scoring System available in every one of its 50 stores. The NuVal score will be present on all shelf price tags at United Supermarkets, Market Street, and Amigos United locations. Tyra M. Carter United’s corporate dietitian stated that “The NuVal system provides our guests with the resource they need to evaluate all kinds of foods – from apples to potato chips to yogurt – and fine-tune their family diets to suit their unique tastes and nutrition needs.” Medical experts and nutritionists created the nutrition ranking system to rate all foods and beverages on a scale of one to one hundred. Each product’s healthiness score is based on the presence 30 nutrition factors. To help educate consumers about how the NuVal system works, United is hosting educational Healthy New Year Expos on various dates this month. Trained staff will be present to explain the system and help consumers make nutritious consumption decisions this year.
