LA CAÑADA FLINTRIDGE, CA - As I was told recently, it is important to give a few extra hugs to those close to you. It is with a heavy heart that we report the recent passing of Scott Fletcher, who was known for his warm smile, a laugh like a warm hug, and deep passion for the Allen Lund Company (ALC). The retired Branch Manager passed away on December 15, 2023, leaving behind a legacy of deep love for his family and this industry.
Scott was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana. At age six, he moved with his family to Marshalltown, Iowa, where he spent his formative years. When he turned 18, Scott joined the United States Navy and proudly went to sea on the USS Arthur W. Radford (DD968). When he separated from the US Navy with an honorable discharge in 1981, he was a Gunner's Mate 3rd Class. Scott also served for years with the Texas Guard.
After serving in the US Navy, Scott made his living as a long-haul truck driver from 1981 to 1985. In 1983, he met the love of his life, Stacy Colyer. After their wedding, the couple moved to Bruceville-Eddy. They remained in the area for the next 39 years, eventually buying some land and building a beautiful home on the Mackey Ranch outside Eddy.
After working for Foxworth-Galbraith, Weyerhauser, and Coca-Cola, Scott finally found, in the Allen Lund Company in 2007, a workplace that truly felt like home. In 2019, upon learning of his illness, Scott retired from Allen Lund. Scott truly loved the company and loved working there.
Scott loved taking annual trips to Colorado to hunt elk with friends and the Thursday Men's Breakfast Club, AKA "Fletcher's Patio Grill." He was proud of the group's motto: "Thank God for Good Friends & Good Food." Scott also immensely enjoyed attending his daughters’ sporting events throughout the years.
All who knew and loved him will cherish Scott's memories, particularly his wife Stacy, his daughter Courtney Hoepker, married to Dillon, and Casey Beth and her partner Brandon Navarette. One of the great joys of Scott’s life was his seven-month-old granddaughter, Evelyn Mae.
