MOUNT VERNON, WA - A celebration is in order as Bay Baby Produce celebrates 25 years in business. For a quarter of a century, the company has pioneered the imaginative produce space, marking its commitment to providing unique painted and hand-decorated pumpkins.

It all began in 1999, when Founders Michele Youngquist and Liz Kamb introduced The Pumpkin Patch Pals. These inaugural painted pumpkins sparked the beginning of a whimsical journey. Two years later in 2001, Bay Baby Produce introduced Fruit Deco: custom, individually decorated apples and pears.

As the press release went on to outline, Bay Baby’s journey to success was only getting started. In 2004, the company released The Adventures of the Original Pumpkin Patch Pals, a storybook featuring the beloved characters.

In 2012, Bay Baby introduced the Conventional Pie Baking Kit with two Pie pumpkins, a recipe, and spice packet, which has become a Thanksgiving favorite. This year also marked the expansion into growing organic produce, and receiving recognition from the former United Fresh Produce Association with a Best New Vegetable Product award for the kits.

In 2014, the company expanded its offerings, introducing bagged organic Pie pumpkins and organic winter squash with recipes, emphasizing the importance of education for produce shoppers. In 2015, its Painted and Decorated offerings evolved to include Classic Painted Silhouettes and intricate Day of the Dead Skull Pumpkins.

The company’s growth is guided by leaders Michele Youngquist, Founder; Tyann Schlimmer, Sales; and Lindsey Lance, Sales and Marketing

From the years of 2020 to 2023, Bay Baby saw quite a few developments. 2020 saw the launch of Licensed Collegiate and NFL painted pumpkins, which became a touchdown of sorts with retail partners. The whimsy continued in 2022 with the introduction of a new painted pie, aptly named "Pun-kins." In 2023, Emo-kins made their debut.

With the past 25 years in the rearview mirror, where is Bay Baby headed next? The company hints at the possibility of Retro-Kins and a new venture, "Seeds to Soil."

Stay tuned as we continue to cover.
