California Avocado Commision Ramps Up for Holiday Promos, Jackson Farming Summer Portfolio

The California Avocado Commission is rolling into the California season with a 515 million lbs. crop, compared to last year's 460 million. The Commission is gearing up for the Summer holidays, including Cinco de Mayo and the 4th of July ,with promotions that include Wake Up to Breakfast with California Avocados, which incorporates creative avocado uses. CAC is expecting to see a record 87.3 million lbs. of avocadoes consumed for Cinco de Mayo alone. Jan DeLyser, Vice President Marketing, tells AndNowUKnow, "From Cinco de Mayo and Memorial Day, through the 4th of July and up until Labor day, we will be planning holiday themes to promote avocadoes with our retail and foodservice partners. Along with our Chef Partners Mary Sue Milliken and Susan Feniger, we will be bringing a host of media and online community opportunities to promote fresh avocado consumption." The company offers strawberries, watermelons, cantaloupe, honeydews, a plethora of melon varieties, broccoli, sweet potatoes and pumpkins. Cantaloupe production should be ready near June 20th, while seedless and seeded watermelon varieties will begin on the 25th of June. The strawberry crop, which has just set its first bloom, should begin in April. Matt Solana, Vice President of Operations, tells AndNowUKnow, "Watermelon supplies from their farm in Sarasota, Florida will begin in May, while their farm in McAlpin Florida will begin in June to ensure there are no gaps in supply."<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">
