Castle Rock Vineyards is gearing up for its 2014 season slated to kick off starting the week of May 20th in California’s Coachella Valley. The first varieties to harvest will be Flame, Sugar One, and Summer Royal. By Mid June, the company will add Scarlet Royal and Thompson’s to the mix in Coachella. The transition to Castle Rock’s Arvin ranches will begin early this year with harvest starting last week of June. Steve Shearer, Sales Account Manager, tells us, “It appears that the warm weather has pushed the vines in all regions - Coachella, Arvin, and Delano- about 10-14 days ahead of last year at this point. Castle Rock will see an increase in volume this season over last with some of our newer ranches reaching full production. Our most significant increase in volume will be with the Sweet Celebration variety.” Sweet Celebration offers outstanding eating quality that really delivers when it comes to taste. The company is excited to have the additional volume this season.

Calbee is broadening your grocery store’s produce departments with its line of all-gluten free snacks. Harvest Snaps come in six tasty, crunchy different varieties. Green pea based Snapea Crisps, featuring Lightly Salted, Caesar, Black Pepper, and Wasabi Ranch flavors; or Lentil based Lentil Snaps, featuring Tomato Basil and Onion Thyme. 70% of the ingredients in the Snapea line are made out of green peas, while 65% of the ingredients in the lentil line are made out of lentil. These snacks are perfect as a salad topping, a lunch side, or even a post-workout snack! Mio Sakata, Director of Brand Marketing, tells AndNowUKnow, “We sell our products mainly in produce areas because we believe our snack is appealing to a wider audience than just regular snack users. Also, they fit well in the produce section as we are truthful to our ingredients.”
