Cenergy Power has completed a 672 kilowatt solar system for Magnolia Citrus Association based in Porterville, California. Magnolia Citrus is the first packing house in the Sunkist family that has taken the giant green step to solar power. The 672 kW solar system will produce over 1 million kilowatt hours a year and is equivalent to planting 600 acres of forest annually. Nader Yarpezeshkan, tells AndNowUKnow, "In addition to the environmental benefits of the solar system, Magnolia Citrus will save over $5 million dollars of electricity cost over 25 years and a payback on their investment in less than 4 years."

Monterey Mushrooms' PMA "Impact Award" winning sustainable packaging is gaining momentum with consumers across the country. According to Jim Burt, National Vice President of Sales, hundreds of consumer intercepts "clearly indicate the move away from foam packaging to paper is driving consumption." Mr. Burt, tells AndNowUknow, "Many consumers have told us they feel better about buying more mushrooms because of our green initiative." The packaging also presents menu suggestions printed on the paper tills and new labels which emphasize the nutritional benefits of mushrooms.
