Salinas, CA<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">Green Giant Fresh has awarded 25,000 Box Tops for Education® to two deserving elementary schools.The lucky recipients of the award were Kelly McKnyht , who chose La Conner Elementary School in Washington and Mary Pytko, who chose Westchester Middle School in Illinois. Green Giant Fresh presented each school with 25,000 Box Tops, equivalent to $2,500 dollars this month at assemblies held at each school. CEO, Jamie Strachan, tells AndNowUKnow, "Faced with spending cuts, 80,000 K-8 schools across America actively participate in BoxTops programs to generate additional funding and provide essential school supplies. Cenergy has broken ground on the 1.1 Megawatt solar system the company is installing on the roof and carport of Poindexter Nut's new processing plant. The system will produce over 1,700,000 kilowatt hours of clean power annually, the equivalent yearly power consumption of 145 homes. Mike Poindexter, tells AndNowUKnow, “Our brand-new processing and cold storage facility will benefit from our solar system by offsetting 50% of our future energy costs and provide a payback on our investment in 3 years.”<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">
