KINGSVILLE, ONTARIO, CANADA - A new innovation in the berry sector is about to take center stage. After pioneering high-tech greenhouse strawberries in North America, Mastronardi Produce® is utilizing that expertise to launch its new USA-grown SUNSET® WOW® organic strawberries this fall.

As a press release outlined, organic berries have grown more than 55 percent in the last five years and attract over $1.2 billion in consumer spend nationally. As more organic consumers demand high quality and flavor in their berries, the SUNSET WOW organic strawberries answer the call. Using exclusive strawberry varieties, Mastronardi Produce plans on elevating flavor expectations.
WOW organic strawberries will be grown in the company’s state-of-the-art Ohio greenhouse, which is equipped with advanced technology in sustainable, climate-resilient growing. The greenhouse will include a double thermal screen, which helps improve energy efficiency and reduces the facility’s carbon footprint.
Mastronardi Produce further outlined the ways in which these strawberries will be grown sustainably, and it’s quite an impressive feat! They will rely on organic waste and natural minerals to provide nutrition to the plants, which will be fed through a drip-irrigation system. This ensures the ideal amount of water and nutrition while the plants are nestled in a proprietary growing system designed specifically for organic production by the company. Just like all SUNSET brand produce, the berries will be Non-GMO Project Verified.
SUNSET WOW organic strawberries will be available in retailers across the Northeast and Midwest regions beginning this fall. They will premiere at the upcoming Global Produce & Floral Show in October, hosted by the International Fresh Produce Association.
