Sysco Announces Tom Bené as New CEO; Reveals Succession Plan

HOUSTON, TX – The Sysco Corporation has announced a CEO succession plan that will involve Tom Bené, the company’s current President and Chief Operating Officer, stepping into the role of CEO. Bené will become President and Chief Executive Officer effective January 1, 2018, and will join Sysco’s Board of Directors. Current CEO Bill Delaney will then step down from the role and serve as an advisor to Bené through December 31, 2018.

Bené joined Sysco in 2013, holding a variety of roles at the company before being appointed President and Chief Operating Officer in January of 2016. Since then, Bené’s responsibilities have included overseeing all of Sysco’s business operations, commercial functions, and supply chain organization. Before joining Sysco, Bené held a variety of positions of increasing responsibility in marketing, sales, operations, franchise development, and general management during a 23-year career at PepsiCo that culminated with a tenure as President of PepsiCo Foodservice.

Ward also touched on the contributions Delaney made throughout his career at Sysco and his term as CEO.

We are appreciative that we will continue to benefit from Bill’s expertise as Chief Executive Officer through the remainder of the calendar year."

DeLaney joined Sysco in 1987 and was named Chief Executive Officer in 2009. He has served in a variety of leadership positions throughout his Sysco career, including a stint as Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer immediately prior to assuming his current role as CEO.
