<p>Over the last two months, West Pak Avocado, with the help of its vendors and customers, has joined together with BKP-California Inc. has raised over $15,000 to assist victims of Typhoon Yolanda in the Philippines, according to a press release.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><img class="small-cropped-image" width="500px" src="https://cdn.andnowuknow.com/legacySmallCroppedImages/image.jpeg" alt="West Pak Avocado Donates 15,000 Dollars to Victims of Typhoon Yolanda in Philippines" /><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda) was the strongest storm in known history, and hit on November 8, 2013. It devastated the island nation of the Philippines, killing thousands and leaving tens of thousands homeless and without food.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">Carolina Leap, wife of a West Pak Sales Associate Kevin, was personally affected as she lost 6 members of her family. Carolina Leap is the co-founder and president of BKP-California, a 100% volunteer non-profit organization that aims to promote literacy in the poverty-stricken areas of the Philippines, providing English language proficiency in an effort to provide better economic, social and civic opportunities.</p><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><p>The funds raised will be used to assist the Philippines typhoon victims in rebuilding their homes and restoring their livelihoods.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><img class="small-cropped-image" width="500px" src="https://cdn.andnowuknow.com/legacySmallCroppedImages/bkp_check_final.jpg" alt="West Pak Avocado Donates 15,000 Dollars to Victims of Typhoon Yolanda in Philippines" /><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">$10,000 of the money raised by West Pak Avocado and their partners will be used for something called the Green Project, which will fund the community growing garden, where participants may cultivate and grow fruits and vegetables for their own use as well as for selling and trading.
