BAKERSFIELD, CA - We here at AndNowUKnow are digging into the specifics of a reportedly tight carrot market. With the category currently being impacted by lower shipping volumes and higher growing costs, Grimmway Farms has shared an exclusive production update as it continues to back its partners with high-quality supplies.

Eric Proffitt, Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Grimmway Farms“Grimmway Farms is currently finishing our fall season in the Bakersfield, California, region and transitioning over the next few weeks to our Imperial Valley winter season,” Eric Proffitt, Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing, shares. “Quality and volume have been great. We’ve been fortunate to get some much-needed precipitation in California. With proper field selection and harvest coordination, we have managed through the tumultuous weather without interruption of supply to our customer base.”

Grimmway has reported that the carrot market is currently tight due to the volume that is being shipped during this time of year. Pricing is higher than last year as cost inputs for producers continue to rise.

Promotions will continue to run heavy on both organically and conventionally grown baby carrots now through April.

“Grimmway’s core carrot program is based in California with great quality and volume, and we also grow and ship carrots from our Lake Park, Georgia, facility from mid-December to the beginning of May,” Eric adds. “Shipments from Georgia have resumed after taking a three-week pause due to abnormal temperatures in December. We expect to have great promotable supplies of both organic and conventional carrots for the foreseeable future.”
