SCHILLER PARK, IL - Sun Belle is expanding its offering with the addition of the Golden Berry, a tasty snack that Founder & President Janice Honigberg was happy to introduce to us.
“Golden berries are actually not berries at all,” Janice clarified, describing them as having a sweet, tangy, tropical flavor. “They’re actually closely related to the tomatillo, and are in the tomato/eggplant family.”
Native to Peru, Sun Belle is bringing Golden Berries in from Columbia and is initially introducing them in 6 ounce clamshell packs.
“It is just delicious,” she said, adding that Golden Berries are very versatile. Some of the recommended ways to eat them (other than straight out of the pack) are:
- In salsas
- With salads
- In smoothies
