Suncrest, out of Lake Wales, Florida, is owned by 20-year industry veteran Jason Turner and is a large importer of Peruvian sweet onions, according to a press release.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><img class="small-cropped-image" src="https://cdn.andnowuknow.com/legacySmallCroppedImages/Jason Turner02.jpg" alt="images 051013" /><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">“I’ve worked with several members of the Curry &amp; Company team, including recently named CFO/COO Michael Hively. Michael and I go back a long ways and have a relationship built on mutual respect and trust,” stated Turner. “Curry &amp; Company is known for their high-quality sweet onions and I look forward to building on that reputation. Retailers are eager for consistently sweet onions, and we have the right onions year round for their customer bases,” he continued.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">Turner will assist Curry &amp; Company with sales, marketing and production along with the transition to Peruvian sweets in the Fall.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">This partnership allows these imports to join Curry &amp; Company’s 52-week per year vertically integrated sweet onion program. Slated for this coming Fall and Winter, more than 200 containers of Peruvian Sweet Onions will be shipped to the U.S.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">President of Curry &amp; Co., Matt Curry, states, “Our customers want sweet onions year round and this partnership with Suncrest Produce strengthens our existing sweet onion program and will triple or even quadruple our Peruvian import volumes. Suncrest has been one of the leaders in Peruvian sweet onions, they have an excellent reputation, and our partnership will benefit retailers nationwide.”<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">Curry &amp; Company is currently in the midst of their Vidalia® Sweet Onion program that kicked off in mid-April and will be available through August.
