SOLEDAD, CA - Adding to the gravity of its leadership team, and by extension its operations as a whole, Braga Fresh announced that it has welcomed new Vice President of Operations Colby Pereira.
Bringing an extensive background in farming, harvesting, and food safety, Pereira will be charged with supporting the company’s overall farming and harvesting operations, with a focus on the health and safety of its employees.
“The Braga Family has a long history and deep roots in both our agricultural industry and local community, along with an outstanding reputation for producing and distributing premium fresh vegetables. I am happy to join the dynamic team of professionals and build on that history,” Pereira commented.
Among her responsibilities will be leading Braga’s COVID-19 response team, including seeing that all current pandemic protocols remain in place amid the transition to the team’s winter growing region.
“We are excited to have Colby’s expertise, experience, and insight at this critical time,” said Rodney Braga, President and CEO. “We need her talents as we grow, never more than now with the ever changing landscape. We will rely on Colby to help keep our teams safe and healthy during COVID and beyond.”
Born and raised in Soledad, California, Pereira shares a home in Braga Fresh’s founding location and has been active in several professional and community organizations throughout her career.
According to a press release, Pereira served as President of the Salinas Valley Chapter of California Women for Agriculture representing Monterey, San Benito, and Santa Cruz counties, and is currently Board President of the Monterey County Farm Bureau. She is also a member of the Grower Shipper Association of Central California, participates in Food Safety, Land Use, and Water Use Committees for the Monterey County Farm Bureau and Grower Shipper Association and sits on the Leafy Green Marketing Agreement Technical Committee (LGMA).
Serving on the California Leafy Greens Research Board, as well as an elected Director to the Salinas Valley Groundwater Sustainability Agency and the Mission Union School District Board of Trustees, Pereira certainly seems more than qualified to ensure Braga’s next step forward is a strong stride.
Congratulations to both the company and its new executive!
