<p>The Nevada Department of Agriculture has launched a new program called Buy Nevada, according to a written statement. The goal of this campaign is to increase the momentum for local food, which has been building for the last few years, through the efforts of companies like Nevada Fresh Pak.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">The Buy Nevada campaign promotes businesses selling food and agricultural products originating in Nevada. The Nevada Department of Agriculture describes this as a state-led effort to promote these industries as a whole.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">"We feel this organization [Buy Nevada] is bringing together a good mix of experienced, professional resources throughout the state with the objective of growing the audience and the demand for Nevada agricultural products," said Teri Gibson, Director of Marketing & Customer Relations for Nevada-based Nevada Fresh Pak.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">Gibson tells AndNowUKnow that the Buy Nevada organization has just started up and while Nevada Fresh Pak is not officially a member, the company's application is in the works. "We are looking forward to working with the Buy Nevada team; specifically to help us increase awareness and consumer engagement for our Nevada Fresh Pak locally-grown program which consists of a wide variety of organic leafy greens and vegetables."<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">The Momentum of Nevada's local food movement has been building for years. 2014 will mark the third year for Nevada Fresh Pak's locally-grown program, wherein the company has built business relationships in the Reno, Tahoe, and Carson areas. The company has found that local retailers and contemporary chefs in these areas were delighted that fresh, locally-grown, organic produce could be picked, packed and delivered on the same day.
