Church Brothers Farms' Jason Lathos Discusses Cauliflower Season
- by Anne Allen
SALINAS, CA - Gone are the days when cauliflower lay forgotten amidst the sweet potatoes and stuffing. With recipes ranging from roasted to mashed, the cruciferous vegetable is here to assert its rightful place as star of the Thanksgiving spread.
I spoke to Jason Lathos, Manager of Commodities at Church Brothers Farms, to learn a little bit more about the current state of the cauliflower season.
“We will finish harvesting in Salinas the first week of December and start Yuma late next week,” he begins, stating that there is a little bit of an overlap in harvest. He goes on to tell me that the market is doing well, especially around the holidays.
With strong volume and steady quality all year-long, it’s unsurprising that cauliflower will rank high on consumer’s shopping lists come holiday meal prep.
