Country Sweet Produce Launches Into Sweet Onion Season with Popular Bako Sweet Brand

Country Sweet Produce has launched into its sweet onion season in the ‘sweet’ spot of California. Running from June through July, the company offers conventional and organic sweet onions from its operations in the San Joaquin Valley.

President Michael Valpredo, tells AndNowUKnow, “I am very excited about this year’s crop. The flavor is as good, or better, as any we've produced.”

The company’s sweet onions are typically "extra sweet", or one of the highest ratings by industry standards. Country Sweet can provide retailers with pyruvic acid levels through 3rd party testing. They also encourage produce divisions to gauge for themselves, either in a lab or just through customer feedback.

The company’s “Bako Sweet” label is quickly being recognized as a true flavor brand as retailers and shoppers are taking notice.

Patrick Balistreri, Sendik's Food Markets Co-Owner, and the exclusive Midwest retailer for the CSP Coventional Sweet Onion program, tells us, “We have been doing business with Country Sweet the last several years and it is really the first time in my 20 year career that my customers ask for a company by name. The crop has experienced ideal conditions this year, Valpredo notes. “Our ground is rewarding both the conventional and organic sweets, and this year's warm weather here in Bakersfield has made a difference, one you can taste!”

As grilling season gets underway, onions continue to be a staple in some of the summer's holiday favorites from burgers and sandwiches and skewers to a flavorful ingredient in salads, salsas, and appetizers.
