UNITED STATES - A centennial celebration is going down for D’Arrigo Family Companies as 2023 marks the 100th anniversary of the business. Since the early 1900s, the companies have been continuously innovating and growing in the agricultural industry, and they aren’t looking to slow down any time soon.
“We enter this 100th anniversary for our companies with an immense amount of pride and humility. It is no easy feat reaching this kind of milestone in any business, but we have been very fortunate in each generation to have leadership that maintains the values that were set from the generation before,” said Matthew D’Arrigo, Chief Executive Officer of D’Arrigo New York. “Here’s to another 100 years of D’Arrigo.”
Starting when Stefano and Andrea D’Arrigo emigrated from Messina, Sicily, to Boston, Massachusetts, in the early 1900s, the two began as fruit peddlers but had a vision for more. According to a release, after a wine-buying trip out West in 1925, younger brother Stefano saw an opportunity and settled in California’s Salinas Valley.
From there, the brothers started with a small farm and a commitment to hard work and quality produce. Since then, the D’Arrigo Companies have grown to become major players in the industry.
D’Arrigo California has expanded its operations to include mechanized harvesting and solar energy generation to power its facilities. Likewise, D’Arrigo New York has expanded its operations in New York City, adding two additional facilities to increase its distribution network, and D’Arrigo Massachusetts, the first of the three companies, is thriving under third-generation leadership.
To celebrate the 100th anniversary, the family is holding a series of events and initiatives throughout 2023. This includes a 100th-anniversary commemorative logo and branding campaign, a year-long social media campaign highlighting the many accomplishments, and charitable donations to local organizations.
Cheers to D’Arrigo Family Companies and 100 years in business!
