INDIANAPOLIS, IN - Through its latest acquisition, FreshEdge is gaining over 110 years of produce and specialty food expertise in the form of Testa Produce. Headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, Testa Produce has been serving customers in Illinois, Wisconsin, and Indiana, giving FreshEdge a leg up in the Midwest region. Terms of the deal, which closed on April 29, 2023, were not disclosed.

With this acquisition, the company is not only upping its density in the Midwest, but also gaining additional space and logistical support to better serve its customer base. As noted in a release, Testa Produce is LEED Platinum Certified and operates out of a 91,300-square-foot, state-of-the-art facility that features the most up-to-date Green Technologies to support energy generation and water conservation.
FreshEdge operates 899,800 square feet of warehouse space across 26 facilities with a fleet of more than 920 trucks and more than 2,000 employees.

FreshEdge is backed by Wind Point Partners, a Chicago-based private equity investment firm. This deal represents FreshEdge’s first acquisition since Wind Point’s initial investment. Together, the two companies intend to continue growing FreshEdge by welcoming more fresh food distribution companies to the fold.
