Freshway Foods Introduces New Power Packs

<p>In a concerted effort to help children eat their fruits and veggies, Freshway Foods announced today that it has launched a new line of products for the school foodservice market called, Power Packs. Power Packs are individually packaged, fresh-cut fruits and vegetables made for schools participating in the USDA Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program–––a program implemented to expand the variety and increase the consumption of fruits and vegetables in children’s everyday diet.</p><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><p>The product line includes a large, diverse selection of fresh produce. Choices include regional and ethnic favorites, such as Cauliflower Florets, Honeydew Chunks, and Jicama Spears.</p><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><p>“Power Packs are two ounce snack packs that contain 100% usable product and do not require any cutting, cleaning or additional handling,” said Dan Purdy, Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “This enables school foodservice departments to cut time and labor costs while maintaining food safety standards.”</p><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><p>The company also created a Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program Toolkit which serves as a resource for school participation in the USDA program.
