SACRAMENTO, CA – This week, competitors from throughout the produce industry squared off to test their strawb acumen and compete for cash prizes in our Mucci Farms Smuccies Sweet Strawberries Quiz Quix. And while many fast and furious contestants claimed perfect 5/5 scores, only the fastest from the buy- and supply-side could take home our $100 prize.
Competition was heated, with less than a second separating the top two contenders. And our leaderboard was packed with produce vets like 4Earth Farms’ Mark Munger, Denny’s Gene Harris (a previous winner), and TIPA’s Dante Galeazzi.
After reading a brief prompt, contestants could try their strawberry knowledge and quiz-abilities against their peers for a $100 prize. Only the fastest competitors could claim our prize and this week, PMA’s Director of Business Development, Global Sponsorships, and Events George Szczepanski topped the list.
"ANUK quizzes are always fun, and I love seeing PMA members like Mucci Farms getting highlighted," said George. "So exciting to bring home a 'W'!"
And this month’s retail winner clocked in just behind George; Sobeys’ Phil Abatecola, National Produce Procurement Manager, also got his hands on our lettuce—with a $100 reward for his quick-witted quizzing.
"I am so thrilled to win," Phil told me. "I always look forward to these contests; the speed aspect makes it very challenging."
