Giumarra Begins Mexican Grape Season with Focus on Proprietary Grape Varieties

LOS ANGELES, CA - Giumarra has announced the incoming of its Hermosillo, Sonora, Mexico-grown Nature’s Partner-brand grapes, with a number of proprietary varieties starting later this month.
“We are prepared to support our retail customers with a robust promotional push for the spring grape season,” said Tom “TW” Wilson, Grape Sales Manager. “Volumes will be excellent for Memorial Day ad pricing. We recommend displaying as many varieties as possible for maximum sales impact.”
Shipments have begun, according to a press release, and initial varieties include:
- Early Sweet green seedless
- Summer Royal black seedless
- Perlette green seedless
- Flame red seedless
Additionally, Passion Fire™ red seedless and Arra 30 green seedless are set to start in late May and finish mid-June, while Sugraone green seedless start in late May and conclude the season in late June.
“Early Sweet meets both consumer and retailer demands for a high-quality green seedless grape early in the season. This year, sizing will be exceptional,” said Wilson of the grape developed by Giumarra.
As the name might suggest, Giumarra noted that Early Sweet is the earliest commercial green seedless variety in the market, and describes it as a creamy green color with a sweet, “Muscat” flavor finish. As owner of the licensing rights and having grown the variety with its partners since 2014, Giumarra said that it estimates this season will see the grape’s highest volume ever.
“The consumer excitement surrounding the grape category offers extensive opportunities for introducing new varieties to market,” said Western Region Business Director, Kellee Harris.
Giumarra’s newest proprietary variety, Passion Fire™, is debuting in commercial volumes this year. Featuring bright red, full color with crunchy, sweet flesh, this newest item is available only from Giumarra and its licensee partners. Likewise, the company’s proprietary Arra 30 is a green seedless, described as having juicy flesh and a unique, sweet flavor.
“These new offerings give consumers more choices for healthy snacking, salads, and desserts as we move into the warmer weather months,” Harris concluded.
