In this interview, John Reese Franklin, Grower Relations and Operations Manager for Giumarra South East, joins AndNowUKnow to share the impact of the hail storm that recently hit Southern Georgia, the silent phone lines that followed and how so much can be lost so quickly.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"> One of the company's main watermelon growers in South Georgia was affected by the hail storm and estimates that approximately one third of his crop was decimated. The area saw a tremendous amount of softball size hail in a short period of time.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"> Mr. Franklin shares how his family grows blackberries in Berrien County, Georgia and may have lost up to 75% of their crop. Thousands of acres spanning multiple commodities may be at a total loss and it may take anywhere between two and three weeks before damage can truly be assessed.
