Leonard’s Big Valley Pecan Farm Processing Plant Hit by $1 Million in Fire Damage

GOLDTHWAITE, TX - Early Saturday morning, firefighters were called to the scene of Leonard’s Big Valley Pecan Farm to attend to a fire which had broken out at the grower's processing plant. In all, it took firefighters from the cities of Goldthwaite, San Saba and Mulllins three hours to contain the blaze, according to KWTX News.

Damages from the fire are currently estimated at $1 million. 100,000 pounds of pecans and the entity of the facility were destroyed during the event, Goldthwaite Fire Chief David Schwartz shared.

While the exact cause of the fire has not yet been determined, Leonard’s Big Valley Pecan Farm's Manager shared that it could have originated from the dryers inside the building.

Thankfully, no injuries have been reported.
