Lorelei DiSogra of United Fresh Discusses The California Salad Bar Initiative

Washington, DC<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">In this interview, Lorelei DiSogra, Vice President of Nutrition, United Fresh Produce Association, joins AndNowUKnow, to share the<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">goals and objectives of the Let's Move Salad Bars to Schools Initiative. The program helps to promote the consumption of healthy<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">fruits and vegetables every day as well as the benefits of a healthy lifestyle.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">The program started two years ago when it was launched by First Lady Michelle Obama and over the last two years more than 550 California schools have applied for salad bars through the initiative. During the past two years, the program has donated more than 200 salad bars to California schools. Currently, there are 350 schools still waiting for salad bars. The goal over the next couple of months is to raise money to donate salad bars to all the schools in California that are on the waiting list. <hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">The program hopes to be able to help all of the schools in California that want a salad bar, to get a salad bar by the end of the school year. <hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">
