Medrano Produce Celebrates New Pharr, Texas, Facility
- by Melissa De Leon Chavez
PHARR, TX - Any first is key in a movement—especially when that first is one in a 40-plus year history and that movement is an expansion. Such is the strides made by Medrano Produce, a citrus and veg provider, which marked a milestone with the opening of its new state-of-the-art facility in Pharr, Texas.
“The new warehouse was built with our partners, employees, and those we serve in mind,” Adolfo Medrano, Chief Financial Officer, shares. “We are excited to finally have our own facility through which we can better service our customers and growers. This new move not only allows us to do more now, but to allow room to grow as we continue that success in the future.”
At 30,000 square feet, the new space already triples Medrano’s production size, with the ability to add another 30,000 square feet in a second phase of expansion. And, having built the warehouse from the ground up, the company was able to ensure brand new equipment, including a top-of-the-line bagging machine and expanded lines, full cold chain custody, and a new operating system.
This all rounds an already strong offering Medrano brings to the table, which includes not only a fairly diverse product portfolio, but also an in-house transportation and logistics division, AMP Carriers.
“AMP Carriers’ 14 trucks provide quality cross-country transportation services as well as local consolidation for Medrano customers. This premium arm strives to provide the best service available and truly ensures our ability to follow product from start to finish,” Adolfo concludes.
With demand continuously on the rise for Medrano’s product offerings, including conventional and organic limes, lemons, oranges, and tangerines, as well as carrots, red and green cabbage, Brussels sprouts, and more, this first closed out a tumultuous year to ensure a strong kick-off to the new one. As we continue to follow the strides that follow this single step, AndNowUKnow will report the latest.
