<p> The National Potato Council is hosting a media briefing on the recent release of its <I>Commodity-Specific Food Safety Guidelines for the Production, Harvest, Storage, and Packing of Potatoes</i> on Friday, November 8, in a 30-minute webinar from 12:00 – 12:30 PM ET.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"> During the event, John Keeling, Executive Vice President and CEO of the National Potato Council, Susan M. Leaman, Vice President of Intertox Decision Sciences, LLC, and Andy Diercks, Vice President of Coloma Farms, Inc. will discuss the potato food safety document, which provides food safety guidance for all companies that produce, harvest, store, pack, and transport potatoes. The guidelines are broken down into four sections: I) General Practices, II) Production and Harvest Operations, III) Storage Unit Operations, and IV) Packinghouse Unit Operations. Each section lists a set of best practices to address potential food safety issues associated with those specific operations, according to a press release.
