Pacific Northwest Potato Commissions Align To Fill A New Role

<p><strong>EAGLE, ID</strong> - February has marked a joint effort by three Pacific Northwest Potato Commissions, the Idaho Potato Commission (IPC), the Oregon Potato Commission (OPC) and the Washington State Potato Commission (WSPC). The commissions have entered into an agreement to bring on board a Pacific Northwest Potato Regional Research Director, according to a recent press release. Dr. Andy Jensen was named to the newly formed role in an announcement made by Frank Muir, President and CEO of the IPC, Bill Brewer, President and CEO of the OPC and Chris Voigt, Executive Director of the WSPC.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"> The three stated in the joint announcement, "On behalf of all three commissions, Dr. Jensen will coordinate the planning and receipt of all research proposals, by communicating directly with researchers and administrators about the Commissions’ expectations, formats for submitting proposals, deadlines, research review meetings and presentations, funding decisions and progress reports.”<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"> In his role, which he entered into on February 1st, Dr. Jensen will also monitor funded research projects to make certain that the goals and time guidelines are met. He will also work with the researchers and administrators to help facilitate the communication of those research results to necessary members within the potato industry. In addition, Dr. Jensen's position will allow him to identify areas that future research can improve and enhance, for the health and strength of the Pacific Northwest potato industry.</p><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">
