GRAND RAPIDS, MI - What’s currently weighing on the consumer’s mind? In our industry, it’s a question we are always trying to answer. SpartanNash has brought forth valuable insights on this topic, unveiling critical findings from a survey from OnePoll.

OnePoll surveyed a total of 1,000 American adults to explore the current shifts happening in the retail sector.

Among the poll’s findings, SpartanNash revealed that consumers are heavily focused on pricing, noting that 49 percent of consumers say affordability is the most important when grocery shopping in 2024.

With artificial intelligence (AI) rapidly gaining traction, consumers also plan to harness technology on their grocery trips. Consumers can optimize AI to make meal plans, shopping lists, and more. In fact, 42 percent of shoppers already use or plan to use AI for their grocery habits in 2024.

Also taking a top spot in consumers’ shopping concerns is health and nutrition. One in four shoppers has reported that health and nutrition are the most important focus when shopping for groceries in 2024.

Other key trends uncovered in the poll include rising demand for one-dish meals, high-protein snacks, and low-sugar offerings.
