SAN BERNARDINO, CA - As one leader retires, another is promoted at Stater Bros. Markets. The retailer has announced that Mike Reed will be stepping into the role of Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer following the recent retirement of Dave Harris, former Executive Vice President of Finance, Chief Financial Officer, and Principal Accounting Officer.
In his new role, Reed will report to Chief Executive Officer and Chairman Pete Van Helden. According to a release, he will be responsible for the financial accountability of the company and will also continue overseeing Stater Bros.’ real estate development and serving on the Executive Leadership Team. His promotion is effective immediately.
Reed brings over 23 years of retail real estate development experience to his position, 10 of which were earned at Stater Bros., as he joined the company in 2014 as a Senior Director in the real estate and property management department. In 2016, he was promoted to Vice President – Real Estate, and in 2018, he was elevated to Senior Vice President Real Estate and Development, assuming responsibilities of construction, store design, and equipment.
The leader took on his most recent role of SVP Property Development and Finance in 2021, where he continued to oversee real estate development and assumed the additional responsibility of corporate finance and accounting operations.
“It has been a pleasure working with Mike over the last several years as he has overseen the opening of several new stores and the remodeling of numerous existing locations,” said Van Helden. “With Mike overseeing the company’s finances, Stater Bros. will be well-positioned for success well into the future.”
Reed holds a Master of Science in Food Industry Leadership from the University of Southern California and a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree in Finance from Boise State University.
Congratulations to Mike Reed on his promotion!
