<p>The UGA Blueberry Breeding Program has developed a new blueberry variety capable of producing fruit two to four times larger than average.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><img src="https://cdn.andnowuknow.com/legacyWriterImages/titanbb052013body.jpg" alt="Cropped Images May 20st 2 2013" /></p><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><p>“People like big strawberries and big blackberries. Now they can get big blueberries,” said Scott Nesmith, the UGA College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences researcher who bred the new variety.</p><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><p>The Titan variety often exceeds the diameter of a quarter and has proven to thrive across Georgia as well as the Southeastern US. </p><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><p>“Right now, most nurseries have waiting lists for Titan™ plants. That’s how popular it is,” Nesmith said. “They have more orders than they do plants.”</p><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><p>'Titan' is a patented variety and can only be propagated by licensed growers.
