The system was commissioned on February 22nd. There will be a ribbon cutting ceremony on April 26th; several local dignitaries will attend.</p><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><p><img src="https://cdn.andnowuknow.com/legacyWriterImages/uesegi_solar_panels.jpg" alt="Images041013" /></p><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><p>The solar project will generate 90 percent of Uesugi Farms’ on-site electrical needs. Annually, this power generation is equivalent to the consumption of 110 average homes and will offset over 800 tons of carbon.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">“This solar system reflects Uesugi Farms’ long-term commitment to sustainability and the environment”, said Pete Aiello, owner and general manager. “There is way too much negative publicity about agriculture and its purported detrimental impact to the environment.
