<p style="text-indent:0px; line-height:12px;"><span style="font-weight:bold;line-height:130%"> Washington, D.C.</span><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">By ANUK Staff<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">4.22.13</p><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><p>The USDA has restricted four produce businesses in Texas, Washington, and California from operating in the industry for failing to pay reparation awards issued under the Perishable Agricultural Commodities Act (PACA).<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">McAllen, Texas-based Coy Burrows, doing business as Palmareal Produce, was restricted for failing to pay a $14,283 award issued in favor of a Texas seller. Burrows was listed as the sole proprietor.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">For failure to pay a $51,282 award in favor of a California seller, Visalia, California-based California Produce Procurement, Inc. was restricted from operating in the industry. Crespin Rodriguez was listed as the officer, director, and major stockholder of the business.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">Kent, Washington-based Glacier Valley Produce Inc. was restricted for failure to pay a $6,466 award in favor of an Oregon seller. Timothy J. Laughlin was listed as the officer, director, and major stockholder of the business.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">Santa Ana, California-based Uno Marketing Group failed to pay $15,445 to a Texas seller and was restricted. Edith Bejar and Angel Bejar were listed as members of the business.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">In the past three years, USDA resolved approximately 5,000 claims filed under the PACA involving almost $96 million.
