CORONA, CA – Continuing to evince its commitment to building a healthier, more sustainable world, Veg-Fresh Farms has announced the Rainforest Alliance certification of two of the company’s premier growing partners.

Randy Cancellieri, Partner, Veg-Fresh Farms

“The Rainforest Alliance is an incredible organization,” said Randy Cancellieri, Veg-Fresh Farms Partner, in a company press release. “Their mission is to protect the environment and promote the rights and well-being of workers, their families, and communities. It means our tomatoes are more than organically grown and sustainably packaged; consumers can feel confident supporting a product in which the entire ecosystem it was produced in was an ethical one.”

Farms must meet with the exacting criteria set by the Sustainable Agriculture Network (SAN) in order to become certified. Certified companies are audited to make sure that they comply with SAN’s comprehensive set of guidelines. SAN standards are based on four key principles of sustainable farming:

  • Biodiversity conservation
  • Improved livelihoods and human wellbeing
  • Natural resource conservation
  • Effective planning and farm management systems

“It’s very exciting for us to be able to say our tomatoes are from a Rainforest Alliance Certified™ farm,” continued Cancellieri. “The audit process our growing partners went through was very thorough, and required them to pass environmental, social, and economic standards set by the Sustainable Agriculture Network (SAN) in order to achieve the global recognition of being Rainforest Alliance Certified.”

According to the company, Rainforest Alliance Certified farms support a healthy environment, promote the well-being of workers and their communities, and use efficient and sustainable farming methods—working to protect ecosystems, wildlife habitats, water, and soil. Certification prohibits farms from using forced labor or hiring workers under the age of 15. Farm group administrators also work to provide healthcare and access to education to farmworkers and their children, and protects them from excessive work hours, wage withholding, and other exploitative practices.

Buying Good Life Organic™ Tomatoes that are Rainforest Alliance Certified™ can help support a healthier planet and an improved quality of life for farming communities across the globe.
