Eagle, ID - Idaho Potatoes are traveling the international route these days, providing millions of customers with the versatile vegetable, thanks to IPC. Its international department has made possible the export of the Idaho Potato to more than fifteen countries. The USDA reports that 1,366,648 metric tons of potatoes were exported last year. In addition to the fresh potato the IPC also provides dehydrated and frozen potato shipments to oversea partners. At present, Canada, Mexico, Malaysia, Singapore and the Caribbean including Puerto Rico import the largest amounts of the fresh Idaho® potatoes. Recent free trade agreements, signed by Panama, South Korea and Columbia should allow further expansion in the coming years.

In response to the worldwide demand for Idaho® potatoes, the IPC recently retained consultants in Mexico City, Hong Kong and Malaysia and has hired Amanda Scales Albers here in the US as International Marketing Manager.
