A&W Food Services has awarded Windset Farms with its Vendor Excellence Award for achieving top performance and service levels. The award is scored and decided after evaluations of responsiveness, service, innovation and market competitiveness. Windset is A&W’s exclusive tomato supplier in Western Canada.
“We really appreciate the support and dedication the entire Windset team invests in the A&W produce program,” says Lisa Hughes, Purchasing Manager of Food and Food Science at A&W.
A&W was the first restaurant in the foodservice industry to choose greenhouse grown tomatoes over traditional field product, according to a press release. “The greenhouse grown tomato program at A&W has been a huge success and it is an honor to be recognized by one of the leading foodservice restaurants in Canada who value sustainability as much as we do,” said John Newell, Owner of Windset Farms.
Windset was named the World’s Best Tomato Grower earlier this year at the first annual Tomato Inspiration Event in Berlin, and uses 100% non-GMO varieties in all of their produce. It is also a Certified Greenhouse member and has a 95% water re-use rate.
