WP Rawl Furthers Community Commitment with Fresh Produce Donation to Food Bank

PELION, SC - Leafy green experts WP Rawl have tied the holiday giving spirit back in to fresh produce. Each year, the company selects an organization to make a donation to on behalf of WP Rawl’s family of employees, and this year the choice was to donate fresh produce to a local food bank.
“Our goal as a company is to give back to our local and global communities throughout the year,” shared Ashley Rawl, the company’s Vice President of Sales, Marketing, and Product Development. “In the times we live in, it is a sad fact that for those in need, fresh produce is not always easy to come by. We are happy to be able to give back and share the vegetables we grow to those in need this holiday season.”
For the second year in a row, WP Rawl has chosen to donate fresh produce to Harvest Hope Food Bank in Columbia, SC. According to a press release, the company supports the non-profit all year long, donating 560,000 pounds of produce in just 2016 alone.
Volunteers at the food bank were on hand to pack the veggies into boxes to be easily dispersed to families in need. As part of the holiday donation, the following items were provided:
- Bagged turnip greens
- Bagged collard greens
- Bunched beets
- Bins of bulk collard greens
WP Rawl says its mission to end hunger leads it to give back to other organizations as well, including RAMP, the Rockin’ Appalachian Mom Project, Lexington Interfaith Community Services, and Katie’s Krops, for whom the company sponsors an annual all-expenses paid summer camp.
