Lettuce production in Yuma, Arizona, has taken a pounding this winter season, with both freezes and disease wreaking havoc with iceberg and romaine crops. Chuck Manfre, Product Manager at Growers Express, joined us to discuss how the damage has affected the supply and the national market. Along with freezing temperatures, sclerotinia has added to the problems that growers are encountering in Yuma. This has resulted in product being "pushed forward" to offset the loss, and overall supplies are off by 15%. Manfre does expect the supply to stabilize in the next week or so, and prices will change accordingly.
