MONTREAL, CANADA - With CPMA’s annual Convention and Trade Show only weeks away, Zespri must be feeling pretty excited. Not only do they get to rub elbows with the cream of the crop, so to speak, but the company has the chance to showcase its show-stopping kiwifruit. I had Sarah Deaton, Shopper Marketing Manager for Zespri, on hand to tell me why the company looks forward to the yearly convention and what delectable treats they will be showing off.

It’s perfect timing as well, as our Zespri SunGold season starts in May!”

Yes, Zespri’s coveted SunGold Kiwifruit is back and better than ever. Consumers go ga-ga for the flavor and the chance to add new tastes to their repertoire. While consumers may have trouble finding the SunGolds, Zespri has Market Development Managers on hand to help retailers set programs for the upcoming season. A focus on visibility is key—large displays near grapes and berries have been successful. A recent third-party merchandising study has also found that doubling the kiwifruit display size results in double the sales! Impulse buying can also be a retailer’s friend, as secondary display locations outside of the produce section by the checkout can help catch the interest of shoppers. Zespri is going into the CPMA convention with a special message for retailers.

“Get with the Program! Retailers don’t want to miss out on the opportunity to grow incremental department sales with Zespri SunGold Kiwifruit,” Sarah said. “Retailers will definitely want to ‘Get with the Program’ as shoppers will be looking for Zespri SunGold Kiwifruit.”

Zespri recognizes that Canada is its own market—one with great fruit consumption per capita. As excited as the company is about the prospects of the Canadian kiwifruit market, you should be even more excited to stop by and visit its booth on the CPMA expo floor.
