BJ's Wholesale Club: "Pink Picnics"

Mon. September 26th, 2011

Pink is the color of survival for BJ's Wholesale Club. For the sixth consecutive year, BJ's and thirteen of the country's leading cancer research centers are hosting "Pink Picnics" events at their local wholesale clubs. The picnic will feature a doctor or speacialist and an inspirational speaker who will share their experiences with breast cancer. The doctors will provide information on the passionate efforts involved in the treatment, prevention and impact of the disease. Because each doctor is specific to their own facility, each will bring their own personal experiences with the work at their center.

The "Pink Picnics" are inviting individuals from all sides of the disease to share in the support and the knowledge that is available in their community. Along with these events, is the company's resolve to support the cause through selling their specially marked "Pink Ribbon" Club merchandise. The funds raised will be donated to thirteen National Cancer Institute Cancer Centers.

Proctor and Gamble is assisting in the efforts as well. Their partnership with BJ's Wholesale is providing BJsforPink.com, online assistance and information involving the picnics, participating hospitals and cancer centers as well as additional links on the cause. Jessica Newman, Manager of Community Relations states, "Many members of the BJ's Wholesale Club family have battled breast cancer or had a family member go through it; so it's an honor to hold the 'Pink Picnic' events to raise awareness and money that will go to the life-saving work being done at these cancer centers."

www.bjs.com
