DETROIT, MI - Look out Michigan Aldis, you’re about to get a fresher face. The retailer has announced that, in part of its previously-announced $1.6 billion investment plan, it will be implementing $28 million in remodels for 20 stores in the Detroit area.
"It has been a pleasure to serve the Detroit community for 21 years, and we're pleased to invest more than $28 million in updating our Detroit-area stores to better serve our existing and new customers," said Ryan Fritsch, Division Vice President.
These remodels will focus mainly on fresh, boosting its produce department, as well as dairy and bakery sections, according to MLive. The new store designs will also house open ceilings and natural lighting. Additionally, the remodeled Aldis will also feature energy-saving materials like energy-saving refrigerators, LED lighting, and recycled materials.
"We know there's only one way to attract and keep fans: continually providing the highest-quality products, while staying true to what our competitors can't match–everyday low prices," Fritsch said.
In that spirit of freshness and quality, the retailer said that this is a specific strategy aimed at helping it move towards a “modern and convenient shopping experience” for consumers.
The plan is already well underway, with the first of the remodels set to open its doors and feature the latest designs on August 10. The location, on 25851 Grand River Ave in Redford, Michigan, will host a ribbon-cutting at 8:25 a.m. that morning to mark the new era for the refreshed store.
