BRONX, NY - Convenience and time-saving are top of mind for Baldor Specialty Foods, made clear by the distributor’s expanding value-added portfolio. Fortifying this rapidly growing sector, the produce provider has unveiled the expansion of its Urban Roots retail lineup.
The newest additions to the lineup come in the form of fresh-cut fruits, including mango, cantaloupe, watermelon, pineapple, and honeydew chunks. Classic Fruit Salad, Tropical Fruit Salad, Berry Medley Salad, and Pineapple Blueberry Salad have also joined the collection.
As a press release stated, Urban Roots will also be offering other rising varieties, including sliced golden kiwifruit, papaya, oro blanco, and dragon fruit; each of these items will be available in a 5 oz grab-and-go size, as well as 10 and 20 oz packages. These strategic launches build on the brand’s existing line of ready-made salsas—which are offered in Salsa Verde, Homestyle, Homestyle Hot, and Pineapple Mango flavors—as well as its prepped and portioned vegetable offerings, such as co-packed Carrot and Celery Sticks, Trimmed Brussels Sprouts, Portioned Potatoes, and Stringless Snow Peas.
With time-saving remaining a major concern for consumers and labor savings a major concern for retailers, Baldor is satisfying the demand for convenience. This includes the non-branded Fresh Cuts products, available for white labeling, repacking, and retail kitchen use, as well as its Urban Roots branded line, which is strategically designed to reduce prep time.
This impressive portfolio is currently on display at the New York Produce Show (booths #401 and #500), where the company is also commemorating the illustrious career of its retiring President Michael Muzyk.
"The New York Produce Show is one of our favorite events of the year," said Benjamin Walker, Senior Vice President of Sales, Marketing, and Merchandising for Baldor Specialty Foods. "New York is where we grew up as a company, and this show serves as a platform to underscore our dedication to providing retail and foodservice customers with the freshest, highest quality, and most inspiring produce options available. This year will be especially important to us as we honor the legacy of our company President, Michael Muzyk, and his contributions to Baldor and the industry."
