BELDING, MI - With the leaves starting to change colors and Halloween décor springing up everywhere, October not only signals the start of fall, but has significance to suppliers in the fresh produce industry, as it is National Apple Month. To celebrate this year, BelleHarvest introduced a unique strategy through its Curious Pairings event held in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on October 16, which invited young-adult influencers to explore the company’s apples.

Milt Fuehrer, Chief Executive Officer, BelleHarvest“Having young adults bring new insights and trending flavors into the kitchen sparked inspiration for all of us,” shared CEO Milt Fuehrer. “Bringing their perspectives into the kitchen was a great way to celebrate National Apple Month.”

The day-long, three-part event paired the young-adult influencers with The Ginger Chef, Jennifer Zirkle-Grawburg, to allow them to discover recipes featuring BelleHarvest apples. According to a press release, the influencers were also invited to pick fruit, put together curious culinary pairings, and serve those pairings to a group of BelleHarvest growers and team members.

The group began their exploration at a Pink Lady orchard where they harvested their own apples before heading to a test kitchen to start experimenting with unique culinary pairings. As part of the experience, they served an apple-centric charcuterie board followed by three main dishes including apple sausage chilli, apple corn bread, and apple potato hash. The evening ended on a sweet note with apple caramel s’mores enjoyed around a bonfire—I don’t know about you, but I need these recipes ASAP!

Angela Sommers, Marketing Director, BelleHarvest“The Curious Pairings event generated content that will support our retail campaigns throughout the winter and into next spring,” said Marketing Director, Angela Sommers. “We’re always seeking new ways to support the promotion of Michigan grown apples. This event did just that.”
