Atomic Torosian, GM for Crown Jewels Produce tells, AndNowUKnow, "We started picking Galas two weeks ago and will finish picking the variety on Friday and finish shipping next Friday. We started harvesting Fujis this week and will start Granny Smiths next week which we usually don't start until early September."

Market prices are good right now on apples, though not as high as last year when there was less supply in the pipeline. Big fruit ranging from the 88's and larger are pricing around the mid to upper 40's on galas.

Even though the season has been quick and appears as if it will continue so, growers are riding a wave of great quality and color to the market.

Stay tuned to AndNowUKnow for updates on the California apple deal.
