California Citrus Crop Faces Freezing Temperatures

Low temperatures have arrived in California's Central San Joaquin Valley, but so far citrus farmers have escaped the freezing temperatures.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">According to the Fresno Bee, temperatures dropped to the mid-to-upper 20s Wednesday night and into early Thursday. As of yesterday the temperatures had not caused any significant damage to the region's citrus crop.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><img src="https://cdn.andnowuknow.com/legacyWriterImages/calcitbody.jpg" alt="Images 122112" /><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">"We had some long durations of cold temperatures that were just on the cusp of being critical," said Bob Blakely, director of industry relations for the Exeter-based California Citrus Mutual.
