A freeze warning has been issued for the Central and Southern San Joaquin Valley. The warning, which began Saturday morning, remains in effect until today, Monday, at 9 am Pacific Standard Time. The locations to feel the possible effects include Hanford, Lemoore, Merced, Madera, Coalinga, Mendota, Porterville, and Tulare.<hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding">Temperatures were anticipated to drop into the 25 to 28 degree range in outlying areas and between 30 to 32 in larger urban areas with frost likely, according to the National Weather Service. </p><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><p><img src="https://cdn.andnowuknow.com/legacyWriterImages/San-Jouquin-Valley-Freeze-BANNER.jpg" alt="Cropped Images 02112013" /></p><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><p>Durations below 28 degree temperatures and lower, detrimental to crops, could have lasted from 1 to 6 hours while 32 degree temperatures may have lasted up to 10 hours. Early blooming Spring plants could suffer damage or be killed. </p><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><p><img src="https://cdn.andnowuknow.com/legacyWriterImages/San-Jouquin-Valley-Freeze-BODY.jpg" alt="Cropped Images 02112013" /></p><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><p>According to the Bakersfield Californian, crops could be damaged by the cold snap that has taken ahold in Kern County where concern is arising about early-blooming crops. Meteorologist, Jeff Barlow of the National Weather Service in Hanford noted on Friday that the short warm spell the region has enjoyed has allowed some stone fruits to begin to bloom.</p><hr class="legacyRuler"><hr class="invisible minimal-padding"><p>We are keeing our fingers crossed as California again feels the threat of tumbling temperatures.
