The new kiwifruit addition is a jumbo variety developed in Greece and brought to the U.S. in 2010, according to a press release. Some enticing attributes include a nearly 50 percent larger than the common Hayward variety and a high nutritional value.

Stephen Paul, Stonefruit and Blueberry Category Director, Homegrown Organic Farms“We are pleased to be able to add this unique variety to our offerings,” Stephen Paul, Category Director, expressed. “As one of the most diverse organic fruit marketers in the industry, we are working hard to provide top-of-the-line varieties and this is no exception.”

An exciting history also accompanies the unique fruit. The farmers behind this new variety are Jerry Kliewer and his son Jerin. The Kliewer’s have partnered with the Greek breeders of this new variety and maintain the exclusive rights to the genetics in the U.S. Partnering with the Kleiwers, Homegrown is thrilled to bring this fantastic piece of fruit to its customer base.
