THE PRODUCE UNIVERSE - If you’re reading this, then we know you are already starting St. Patrick’s Day on the right foot with a swift click on AndNowUKnow’s little green apple logo. Whether you’re fully taking part in the festivities or just trying not to get pinched, the holiday brings a ton of fun...and what’s a little fun without our industry friends? See what they had to say about bringing in the green this St. Patty’s Day...

Brianna Shales, Marketing Director, Stemilt

Brianna Shales, Marketing Director, Stemilt“Our Stemilters are always up for a holiday celebration and excited to wear green this St. Patrick’s Day, along with partaking in a green food inspired potluck in the Sales office. At retail, we are expecting to see the apple category go green with the beloved Granny Smith apple. It’s a core variety during this season, and always a hit to advertise alongside other green produce items.”

William Goldfield, Director of Corporate Communications, Dole Food Company

William Goldfield, Director of Corporate Communications, Dole Food Company“St. Patrick’s Day is a great holiday for produce. Anytime you can promote eating green—broccoli, spinach, avocado, kale, Brussels sprouts, grapes—is great for consumer health and retail sales.”

Kim Andreason, Produce Program Coordinator, Jason’s Deli

Kim Andreason, Produce Program Coordinator, Jason's Deli“For me, St. Patrick’s Day means green clothes and beer, live music, parades, shamrocks, leprechauns, and corned beef and cabbage. This year at Jason’s Deli, our R&D Department has worked diligently to put together a special catering menu. The ‘Parade of Party Food’ will be available this week only for celebrations and includes party portions of corned beef sandwiches, sliders, and/or platters.”

Some of our produce industry friends recently shared their tips and traditions in the lead-up to St. Patrick's Day

Crystal Chavez, Marketing Coordinator, Gold Coast Packing

Crystal Chavez, Marketing Coordinator, Gold Coast Packing“Green beer and getting pinched is what many think of when March 17 rolls around, but for me, St. Patrick’s Day is all about our corned beef dinner! My family makes corned beef for dinner every St. Patrick’s Day, but we switch it up a little. Instead of having cabbage as a side, we steam Brussels sprouts—very similar to cabbage but tastier and a fun twist… and of course we round it out with green wine and beer.”

Jen Velasquez, Director of Marketing, Full Tilt Marketing

Jen Velasquez, Director of Marketing, Full Tilt Marketing“St. Patrick’s Day has always been a favorite holiday of mine, and this year it’s extra special as I get to spend it with friends and family in Ireland celebrating our wedding! One of the reasons we chose the Armada Hotel in County Clare as our venue is that it places a lot of importance on sustainable farming, mostly using local produce from farmers in the area as well as from their own farm, something near and dear to my heart!

Where there is a rainbow of produce, gold is sure to be found.
