Brian Bocock, Vice President of Product Management, Naturipe Farms

Right now we are harvesting blueberries in Michigan. We started with Duke last week and we will be picking in Duke again this week. We are beginning in the southern part of the state and then we will be moving to the central part of the state. Peak production will run from July 7th to July 25th to the 26th. We had a warm Spring which moved the crop right along. We did have some freeze damage back in April which has affected the crop some what. That said, we expect a strong crop in Michigan and we expect ample supplies of great quality produce for retail promotions.

Jason Bedsole, Eastern Vegetable/Citrus, Sales Manager, Duda Farm Fresh Foods

Right now it is currently radishes. We’ll be starting cabbage in the next day or so and in the next two weeks we will be starting corn and celery. We are in South West Michigan right now. The facility is in Byron Center, right outside of Grand Rapids. Quality looks good thus far. It is a little dryer on the front end then we’d like to see but other that that it is what we would like to see. About the last week in July is when we really start cranking it up and the peak lasts from August until about mid September. With the regional program there Michigan, we have increased the acreage year over year for celery. We are continuing to build that program.
